Upcera Realism Glaze is a universal 3D stain and glaze paste system used to add lifelike color characterization, optical depth, and a high-gloss finish to sintered zirconia and lithium disilicate restorations. Because the pigments are suspended in a paste, it allows for micro-layering without the need to stack porcelain.
Application & Firing Tips:
-
Mix Thoroughly: The paste binder and pigments naturally separate in the jar over time. Always stir the paste with a non-metallic spatula before use to ensure even pigment distribution.
-
Adjust Viscosity Properly: Use only the dedicated Realism Glaze Liquid to thin the paste. A thinner consistency works best for subtle incisal transitions, but over-diluting will cause the glaze to run during firing.
-
Prevent Pooling: Apply the paste in thin, even coats. Heavy pooling in the occlusal fossa will obscure your milled anatomy and look unnatural.
-
Manage Thermal Shock: The standard firing temperature is between 760°C and 830°C. If you are glazing a multi-unit bridge (more than three units), reduce your heating and cooling rates from 45°C/min to 30°C/min to prevent the zirconia from cracking under thermal stress.
